Beating Time
Beating Time, Willoughby’s multicultural community choir for seniors, meets on Mondays at the Dougherty Community Centre from 12.30-2.30pm each week.
Led by one of Sydney’s most experienced Directors of Music, Margot McLaughlin, and accompanied by the resident pianist, Tony Baldwin, the choir has a varied repertoire and has performed at local functions such as Meals on Wheels Social Lunches, Citizenship ceremonies, Community of Choirs and the Blackheath Choir Festival.
All who love to sing are welcome!
Beating Time began 23 years ago under the name of Sydney U3A choir until it became an incorporated body in its own right and, in 2015, changed its name to Beating Time.
It is an unauditioned choir of enthusiastic seniors who sing a variety of musical styles and strive for excellence in performance under the expert leadership of its Director of Music, Margot McLaughlin who was appointed in February, 2015. Margot has over 40 years’ experience as a chorister, choral trainer and conductor and is highly respected in the Sydney music scene for her work with several prestigious choirs.
The members firmly believe that singing together brings great health benefits, both mental and physical as well as providing a friendly social activity.
